Siddis Brass is an annual entertainment contest for brass bands, arranged in concert halls in  Bjergsted Musical center (Stavanger Konserthus, Stavanger Conservatory of Music and Stavanger Music School) the first saturday of november.

Next to the annual norwegian national championships in Bergen, Siddis Brass is the most important event for norwegian brassbanding. The event is widely recognised as an arena for bands to try out new concepts and every year there are more and more music commissioned for the event.

Each brass band performs an own choice programme of entertainment music within a timeframe of 18-24 minutes. The limit vary according to which section they participate in:

  •  Elite- and 1. section : 24 minutes
  • 2. section : 21 minutes
  • 3. section : 19 minutes
  •  4. section : 18 minutes

Recordings from the competition has been broadcasted in the norwegian national broadcaster NRK,  in  addition to norwegian TV2 and british BBC. We are proud to cooperate with World of Brass for live streaming and you can watch live streaming and recordings at https://wobplay.com/.

The venues at Bjergsted, Stavanger, offers the bands brilliant playing conditions, and in cooperation with generous sponsors, Siddis Brass can offer attractive prizes to the winners in each section.

The winner of the elite section qualifies to participate in Brass in Concert.

The hosts and the competing bands are grateful to have a truly professional and hard working staff that continously works in order to plan and develop the competition. Siddis Brass is voluntary work, and we are lucky to have a growing base of skilled volunteers helping out with everything from stage managing to food services.

Siddis Brass is arranged by the Siddis Brass-commitee, and Stavanger Brass Band is hosting and owning the competition.
